MagFEST to Host Child’s Play Charity Auction

Charity auction to raise funds for the Child’s Play charity.

WASHINGTON, DC — December 27, 2010 —  The next MAGFest is coming up Jan 13-16, 2011, and will be holding a charity auction, with 100% of proceeds to be donated to Child’s Play. Child’s Play is a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in a network of over 60 hospitals worldwide. Since their inception in 2003, they’ve raised millions of dollars, and MAGFest will be trying to do their part this year to help with that. There are going to be some much sought after items up for auction, and here’s just a few of the big ticket ones:

These are just a small sampling of the items that will be up for auction, so come bid and show your support! In addition to the auction items that we provide, MAGFest is gladly accepting donations of items to put up for auction. Contact MAGFest, and tell them if you have anything that you’d like to be added to the Child’s Play charity auction! The auction will be held on the last day of MAGFest, Sunday, January 16th.

MAGFest, The Music And Gaming Festival, is an annual event in the Washington D.C. area dedicated to the celebration of video games and video game music. Each year, MAGFest offers 24-hour console, arcade, and PC game rooms, over ten live video game cover bands, a vendors area, and guest speakers from the video game industry and fan scene. Numerous other events are scheduled each day. It also features a “JamSpace” available to all attendees for impromptu music performances. MAGFest 9 is scheduled for January 13-16 2011.

Child’s Play is a Seattle based, gamer-run organization that holds an annual toy drive for childrens’ hospitals. It was started in 2003 by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins of the online comic strip Penny Arcade, which concerns itself with videogames and gamer culture. Child’s Play has raised millions of dollars for childrens’ hospitals since its inception, and continues to grow every year, raising almost two million dollars in 2010.
